Shea Down on Broadway Boxing
Maureen "Moe" Shea lost a hard fight to Kim "Chicago" Colbert in a 6 round lightweight division bout. Shea was the home town favorite and the crowd was loud and supportive of the only women's bout on the card.
The fight started off with plenty of fast hard hits by both fighters. Colbert displayed anger, attitude and showboating in the later rounds as Shea stuck to a disciplined strategy of attack. Shea went down just as the bell rang at the end of the second round, taking an eight count that likely determined her fate. The contrast in styles made this fight a great show for television where it will hopefully end up. Colbert was all attitude and counter-punching while Shea was constantly moving, throwing lots of punches but none of them were strong enough to take Colbert down. Colbert won in a split decision.
May 25th Update: Decision changed to no contest due to Colbert's violation of NYSAC's substance policy.
